Description
In the hamlet of Seiano, the church is known throughout the Sorrento peninsula and believed in every age to be extremely miraculous by the seafarers of the countryside. As evidence of the “Graces” received and the wonders that, still today, are heard told by the elderly sailors, the left aisle of the church is covered with votive paintings executed in different eras. The church consists of a central nave and a small lateral one. The central nave is surmounted by a lowered barrel vault and is separated from the lateral nave, also covered by a barrel vault with nails, by three tuff pillars. The walls and arches are decorated with imitation marble. The facade is rusticated in the lower part, marked by two lateral pilasters surmounted by Corinthian capitals and a smooth architrave. In the center is the entrance door on which rests an engraved lunette which houses a painting (The Virgin and Child Jesus). The facade continues to the left with a two-order square bell tower.
Decorative elements
The facade is rusticated in the lower part, marked by two lateral pilasters surmounted by Corinthian capitals and a smooth architrave. In the center is the entrance door on which rests an engraved lunette which houses a painting (The Virgin and Child Jesus). A small frame underlines the share of the capitals and delimits a circular frame with the overhanging frame. The undecorated tympanum with pediment is surmounted by a cross.
Decorative elements
The central nave is surmounted by a lowered barrel vault, decorated with a succession of medallions, which enclose quadrangular frames, and coffered bands, and is separated from the lateral nave, also covered by a barrel vault with nails, by three tuff pillars. The walls and arches are decorated with imitation marble and one wall has three large windows, placed under the nails.
Bell tower
The bell tower has a square plan with two orders, rusticated up to the level of the adjacent tympanum with a splayed rectangular window compartment, with a visible bell inserted in an arched compartment delimited by pilasters and a tympanum and by a high band crowning the entire bell tower.
